Artist Statement:

I explore themes related to underrepresented folklore and mythology, embodiments of the night, and personal cultural references to my life through watercolor painting, ceramic sculpture, intaglio and relief printmaking, and collage.

The work grows out of my Indian heritage and childhood fascination with Hindu and Greek mythic stories and fairytales. In the imagery, flowing streams of organic forms swirl around figures, plants, and animals.

Collaged crystal beads, mirrors, bindis, jhumkas, lehengas, bangles, and gold leaf create iridescent lights on the surface which reflect out at the viewer.

The works highlight hidden figures with distinct feminine voices discovered through archival research of untold stories from Eastern and Western canons, evoking a sense of serenity and bridging edges between cultures.
